Spicy Tuna Nachos 🧀 Okay, so I know these are not your typical nachos, but that isn’t my style! I’m here to elevate your game and give you my Signature Nadia Twist 🌪️ and trust me when I say…they are absolutely delicious! This tuna nachos recipe is perfect for Game Day or just a quick and easy meal! Either way, they’ve been my hyper-fixation lunch lately because of how fast and easy they come together while still remaining delicious and I know you will become as obsessed as I am 🤤
Why You’ll Love Spicy Tuna Nachos
Tuna Nachos have a bold and vibrant flavor that you will certainly LOVE. The salty, crispy chips mixed with the kick of spice in the tuna is just perfect! Sweet drop peppers give it a briny tangy and slightly sweet pop. And you can never go wrong with melted gouda! The tabasco, salsa macha, creme fraiche, scallions, and dill add that freshness and altogether really give it that extra pop that will have you saying TOUCHDOWN! 🏈
How To Prepare Spicy Tuna Nachos
🥔 Divide your thin and crispy chips into two helpings. I love the Boulder Canyon: Thin and Crispy Chips for this recipe. Put those in individual baking dishes. Everyone asked where I found mini enameled steal pans that I used. They are actually 6 inch paella 🥘 pans. I found mine on Amazon, Garcima 6-inch Enameled Steel Pan.
🍣 After you’ve snuck a couple bites of your chips 😜 top the rest with your spicy tuna. My favorite spicy tuna is the Fish Wife packed in spicy olive oil. This can be hard to find sometimes. If it is, you can instead look down at my spicy tuna substitutions for an option to make your own.
🌶️ Add the peppers and Serranos to taste. If spice isn’t your thing, you can always just use jalapeno and deseed them. That way you’ll have the taste without the pain!
🧀 Top with the gouda. While I am a firm believer that this is the best choice for these spicy tuna nachos, you can always use you cheese of choice in the gouda’s place. Just make sure it is meltable. And a *Chef Nadia Tip*, make sure you shred your own cheese! Pre-shredded cheeses have additives to prevent clumping and it affects the flavor! It only takes a few more minutes and it is worth it, trust me! Bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes until cheese is ooey, gooey, melty and DELICIOUS 🤤
🍽️ Now for the beautiful part. You’re going to top these freshly baked nachos with tabasco (or your favorite hot sauce), salsa macha, creme fraiche, scallions, dill and that is it 👌
Substitutions for Spicy Tuna
- If you are unable to find creme fraiche or just want to use something already in your fridge, you can use sour cream instead of the creme fresh.
- If you don’t have spicy tuna on hand, not to worry. You can use regular albacore instead and add cayenne, paprika, white pepper and garlic salt to taste.
- While my Salsa Macha is really irreplaceable, if you don’t have to make it and just want an easy option, these chili crisps are also pretty delicious.
Variations for Spicy Tuna
- To make this tuna nachos recipe a dairy-free recipe, it’s really simple. Omit the creme fraiche and make sure you use a dairy-free gouda option. While I think Gouda is the best option, you can put your own TWIST on these Spicy Tuna Nachos by using your favorite dairy-free cheese in place of the gouda 🧀 as long as it’s meltable!
- If tuna nacho’s aren’t your thing, my Braised Pot Roast is also an amazing option. It’s an amazing option because you can use the leftovers from the night before making this a super quick and easy recipe.
- If spice 🌶️ isn’t your thing, you can make these just plain tuna nachos by using jalapeno peppers and deseeding them. Depending on how much you don’t like the spice, you can use a regular albacore tuna and then season it up with your favorite spices.
- For a chicken option, you can always get shredded chicken instead and follow my steps in the substitutions for if you can’t find the spicy tuna to make it a spicy chicken.
