I naturally used Empress because at this point I’ve made it clear that it is my favorite! For this recipe I used their new Elderflower Rose and it was 🔥.

This Prickly Pear Cocktail is fruity and delicious! This drink has a lovely balance of sweet, tangy and it is also sooo fresh, which makes it absolutely perfect for a summer night in with friends. The sumac sugar rim elevates the experience of the cocktail even more.

How To Prepare Prickly Pear Cocktail

🧂 Combine the salt, sugar and sumac in a plate.

❄️ Add the rest of the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake for a minimum of 60 seconds.

🍯 Brush a little agave syrup or honey on the side of your glass and then pass it through the sumac sugar.

🍊 Serve with a single rock and a slice of blood orange and that is it!

Substitutions and Variations

  1. You can use any alcohol of your choice, such as mezcal or tequila instead of gin.
  2. I love doing a sumac sugar rim but you can do your favorite rim instead.
  3. I used Empress Elderflower rose gin, but you can use any gin of your choice.
  4. You can use any honey of your choice instead of agave syrup.

Chef’s Tip

Make sure you shake for at least 60 seconds so you get icicles in there! It’s arm day!

Ingredients 

  • 3/4 oz Prickly pear syrup
  • 3/4 oz Yuzu
  • 1/2 Blood orange
  • 3/4 oz Triple sec , or orange liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz Elderflower rose gin, Empress
  • Tiny squeeze lemon
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Sumac
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
