You’ll absolutely love this toasted ciabatta bread for the delightful combination of flavors and textures. The roasted garlic adds a caramelized depth that perfectly compliments the tang of the sun dried tomatoes. When you toast this on the airy ciabatta with the crispy crust, it’s a rich savory taste that’s hard to resist!

How To Prepare Toasted Ciabatta

🧄 Prepare the Garlic: Slice the top of the garlic, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, bake at 400°F for 60-70 minutes

🍅 Process Tomatoes: Add sun-dried tomatoes along with two tbsp of their oil to the food processor. Process until finely chopped.

🧈 Make the Tomato Butter: Combine room temperature butter, processed sun-dried tomatoes, miso, salt, roasted garlic, and parmagiano in a bowl and mix well.

🧀 Prepare the Ciabatta: Spread the tomato butter mixture onto the ciabatta bread and grate a generous amount of parmagiano on top of that.

🥖 Bake: Put in the oven at 365°F for 15 minutes.

🌿 Garnish: Top with fresh basil and crushed red pepper before serving.

Substitutions and Variations

  1. You can swap out the ciabatta bread for a french baguette, sourdough bread as well as focaccia bread!
  2. You can use tahini instead of miso.
  3. In a pinch you can use 1-2 teaspoons of garlic powder. I won’t be as good but it will definitely work!
  4. Wrapping your garlic in foil works perfectly, but if you want to get fancy with it you can buy one of these adorable garlic bakers.

Freshly grate you parm right before using it because pre-grated cheese usually contains anti-caking agents and doesn’t melt as nicely as freshly grated.

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes + 2 tbsp of the olive oil it was packed in
  • 1 large head of garlic
  • 1 tbsp white miso, optional
  • 6 oz room temperature unsalted butter
  • 1/4 c parmigiano reggiano, more for topping
  • Seasoned salt to taste
  • Fresh basil
  • Crushed red peppers
  • Ciabatta, sliced

Instructions 

  • Slice the top off the garlic and drizzle olive oil on it. Wrap in foil and bake at 400°F for 60-70 minutes.
  • Add the sun-dried tomatoes and 2 tbsp of its oil to a food processor and process until pretty small.
  • Add room temp butter to a bowl with the tomatoes, miso, salt, garlic and parm. Mix well.
  • Spread onto ciabatta and grate a ton more parmigiano on top.
  • Bake at 365°F for 15 minutes.
  • Top with basil and crushed red peppers and that is it!
