Why You’ll Love Lavender Biscuits

These taste precisely how you would imagine… They are buttery, fluffy and delicious! The lavender adds some floral notes, and it is lovely. I love eating these with my morning coffee.

How To Prepare Lavender Biscuits

🍚 First, process together the flour, lavender, salt, baking powder and sugar.

🧈 Secondly, add in the cubed cold butter and process until it is crumbly.

🥛 Slowly add in the buttermilk and process until incorporated.

🍞 Then, add dough to a floured surface, knead the dough lightly. If it’s too wet/sticky, add in a bit of flour (1 tbsp at a time).

🤲🏻 Flatten the dough with your hands and form a rectangle. Then, fold it in half a couple times. I find it gets more even. You want it to be 1-1 1/4 inch thick.

🍪 Cut the biscuits using a cookie cutter. Then, keep forming the dough and cutting it until it is all gone. Mine yielded 9 biscuits.

🌟 Place in a cookie sheet and brush the tops with buttermilk.

🔥 Then, bake at 425F for 11-13 minutes or until the tops are golden and they’ve risen.

💜 Lastly, add butter, honey and lavender to top (that’s completely optional though).

Substitutions and Variations

  1. I topped these with flaky salt to add a bit of texture, but you can leave it out.
  2. I used homemade buttermilk and butter, but you don’t have to. You can use store bought.

Chef Nadia’s Tip

Using the buttermilk from my cultured butter.

Common Questions

Can I use store bought buttermilk?

Yes of course! I used homemade, because I had made cultured butter and I saved the buttermilk, but you don’t have to.

What flaky salt do you use?

I use Maldon Sea Salt Flakes.
