Ingredients
1.5cupall purpose unbleached flour
1tbspbaking powder
2/3cupbuttermilk, homemade
1/2tbsplavender, more for sprinkling
5tbspcold butter, I used my homemade cultured
1tspsalt
2tspsugar
Instructions
First, process together the flour, lavender, salt, baking powder and sugar.
Secondly, add in the cubed cold butter and process until it is crumbly.
Slowly add in the buttermilk and process until incorporated.
Then, add dough to a floured surface, knead the dough lightly. If it’s too wet/sticky, add in a bit of flour (1 tbsp at a time).
Flatten the dough with your hands and form a rectangle, fold it in half a couple times. I find it gets more even. You want it to be 1-1 1/4 inch thick.
Cut the biscuits using a cookie cutter. Then, keep forming the dough and cutting it until it is all gone. Mine yielded 9 biscuits.
Place in a cookie sheet and brush the tops with buttermilk.
Then, bake at 425F for 11-13 minutes or until the tops are golden and they’ve risen.
Lastly, add butter, honey and lavender to top (that's completely optional though).
