This pasta is so simple yet SO delicious! The brown butter adds a nice nutty flavor and it is to die for. It’s very easy to make and perfect for a family dinner.

How To Prepare Tomato Tagliatelle

πŸ”₯ First, preheat a pan for 1 minute, add in the butter and brown until nutty and golden. Set aside.

πŸ§… Secondly, in that same pan, add plenty of olive oil. Enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Then, add the basil leaves, onion and garlic. Cook at medium low heat for 5 minutes or until softened.

πŸ… Add in tomato paste and cook together 3-4 minutes at medium heat.

πŸ§€ Then, add in tomatoes and let them blister on medium heat for 30 minutes, mashing them with a spoon often. Add in balsamic and soy sauce halfway through. Then, add in Parmigiano and fresh basil. Mix well.

🧈 Whip the brown butter over ice until fluffy and set aside.

πŸ’¦ Cook your tagliatelle in boiling salted water until almost al dente.

🌟 Then, add the pasta to the sauce with plenty of pasta water. Let it cook together for 2 min.

πŸ’₯ Turn heat off and add butter and emulsify well.

❀️ Lastly, serve with more parmesan.

Substitutions and Variations for Tomato Tagliatelle

  1. You can use any pasta of your choice instead of tagliatelle.
  2. You can use any cheese of your choice instead of Parmigiano.
  3. Herbs are always very easy to swap for your favorites or which ever ones you have on hand.

Don’t skip on the brown butter, it brings such a nice flavor to the dish.

Ingredients 

  • 1 lb tagliatelle
  • 2 pints cherry tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 small vidalia onion, brunoise
  • 2 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 oz tomato paste
  • 4-6 basil leaves , and more for topping
  • 8-10 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp balsamic
  • 1/3 cup parmigiano reggiano, and more for topping
  • Black pepper , to taste
  • Salt , to taste
  • Olive oil
