Pan con Tomate 🍅 Truly one of my favorite appetizers EVER. One of my favorite food memories was going to Spain with my dad… Just us two….and all we did was eat. From that trip on, I’ve been obsessed with the amazing Pan Con Tomate. It’s is my go-to prosciutto and manchego appetizer for parties, it fits in perfectly on a charcuterie board and you can even serve it deconstructed and let your guests make their own, which they always think it really cool!

How To Prepare

🧄 Rub garlic on the bread and then rub the tomato pretty vigorously.

🧀 Add the Manchego and prosciutto and then drizzle with olive oil and that is it! You have your Pan con Tomate!

Substitutions

  • Manchego → You can use your favorite cheese instead of manchego.
  • Prosciutto → Use whatever your favorite cold meats are, such as calabrese or salami instead of prosciutto. If you can get your hands on Jamon Iberico, GET IT! It’s amazing.

🔥Chef Nadia’s Tip🔥

Don’t skip rubbing garlic on the bread – trust me, it makes a HUGE difference.

Pan Con Tomate: Questions Answered

What can I use instead of prosciutto?

You can use any cold meats of your choice. Ideally, you would use Jamon Iberico, but it’s hard to find where I live. You can use salami, or calabrese.

Where have you gotten Jamon Iberico from?

Cinco Jotas is the best I have tried, but it’s hard to find.

Can I use a different cheese instead of manchego?

Yes, you absolutely can! You can use any cheese of your choice.
